((Lol, I have a character named Lorel who also "dances" )) Sparrow's smile grew as he watched his new friend play about, spinning, hopping, and doing all kinds of silly actions! His tail wagged eagerly as he waited for her to finish. The vocals that went along with the act made it all the more fun and the male laughed at the silliness of it all. "Join me!" she barked. Sparrow's animated figure dived into the scene almost too quickly. His tongue lolled out as he began to awkwardly move about. The music in his head was slowly forming as he began to sheepishly pounce around. Sparrow's mind finally mused up a catchy tune, and he soon found himself moving to it naturally.
His moves soon became fluid, the awkwardness draining; feeling the rhythm as he made it. "This is quite... interesting. "It's really fun. By the time the sun goes down, I'll be a lot skinnier!" he joked.Speech Thoughts Everything Else((Alright, I'm sorry. My big sister is taking me off. I hope this is okay. Solitaire Watched Sparrow as he practiced the movements, getting better. "This is quite... interesting. "It's really fun. By the time the sun goes down, I'll be a lot skinnier!" he said, with a smile. Solitaire laughed and plopped down. She'd tired herself out, but a small rest would fix that. She panted and watched Sparrow who was quite entertaining. Suddenly she thought of his words. Skinnier? Solitaire didn't want him to get skinnier, even though she knew it was a joke. If a wolf was going to survive a wolf needed to eat. In the corner of her eye she spotted the obnoxious squirrel she had bothered before. He was being brave, and had climbed down his tree to nibble something. Solitaire raised herself ever so slowly. All the lessons she'd learned from her father ran through her head. She bolted toward the tree, her tail rotating to give her balance. She caught the squirrel totally by surprise, and snapped his neck in her jaws. She was surprised herself, as squirrels were tricky prey. I got 'em! She thought. She trotted back to where Sparrow was standing, as he had stopped dancing. She pranced a bit and held the squirrel up. She then dropped it in front of him. "I got him! I warned the silly thing I'd be back to let him have it." She giggled. "Here," Solitaire nosed it. "Eat." A wonderful feeling surged through the wolf dog. She had never hunted for anyone before and it was very satisfing. Her tail began to curl, and she panted with a pretty smile on her muzzle.

Sparrow stopped dancing as he instantly noticed his partner's intense, azure eyes focused somewhere over his shoulder. The male's bouncy smile transferred into a serious look as he strained his senses for any signs of danger.
Chirp, chirp... Chatter, chatter...It just sounds like birds and squirrels, to me. No suspicious cracks of twigs or leaves, no growling, nothing... But perhaps we are being stalked? His thoughts vanished as Sparrow's neck turned to follow Solitaire's form zipping passed him. Doing a quick hop around, the male watched as she charged towards a harmless critter. With a zest in his eyes, the squirrel chattered and began to make a run for it. "Ouch!" Sparrow winced as he watched his friend chomp into the squirrel's neck in an unexpected whirl.
The atmosphere's sense of adrenaline was short-lived, much like the squirrel's life. Although Leonardo felt bad for the little thing, he couldn't help but lick his lips in desire as the smell of its blood wafted into his nostrils. Savoring the growing smell for a moment, Sparrow opened his eyes to see the squirrel's carcass at his feet; Solitaire curled her tail and wore a proud smile.
The male grinned disbelievingly, "For me?" Normally, for the sake of manners, he would have refused. But seeing as Sparrow was an unlucky and inexperienced hunter, (not to mention the fact that his ribs were practically reaching out of his skin for help!) he couldn't resist digging in.
Sparrow practically inhaled half the body! Then suddenly his ears flicked sheepishly as he realized his tail was wagging furiously. Retracting himself, he came eye-to-eye with the half-dog whom he'd almost forgotten about. "Oh, I'm so sorry. Here, you have some, you caught it!" He pawed the squirrel until it was at the huntress' mercy. Sparrow grinned lopsidedly before randomly sneezing. "It feels really nice to have some fresh, warm food rather than the carcasses and scraps the forest has to offer..."Sighing contently, (although he was still hungry) he fell to his side and began to groom his untamed coat.Speech Thoughts Everything Else

Solitaire nosed the last bit of squirrel back toward Sparrow. "Go ahead! I've eaten already."She had caught and eaten a rabbit just before venturing out onto the ice and then meeting the young pup. She picked through her memories of the last hours, and she found herself focusing on something that had not been important before. She now cared for Sparrow very much, and his well being had come into question. She was suddenly very eager to know where this pup had come from and why he was all alone. He wasn't a fresh-from-the-den pup. He was older than that, Solitaire guessed only a year younger than herself. Her father had told her she was still a pup too, and would be until the age of three. In any case, he was alone. Most wolves his age would still be with thier parent's pack. "Sparrow," She asked quietly "Where are your parents? Are you all alone?"She didn't want Sparrow to be vulnerable, fending for himself at his young age. He was obviously not particularly good at hunting. But he had survived up to this point, so maybe she wasn't giving him enough credit. She didn't want Sparrow to be alone. But perhaps more than that, She didn't want to be alone. "Are you like me?"

((I made a Sort-of-not-really longer post to make up for my absence while on my vacation.))
[/center] "Go ahead, I've eaten already!" Solitaire barked friendly. Sparrow grinned, unable to resist the temptation of the offer. Chowing down the squirrel with enthusiasm, Sparrow sneezed and yawned contently. Although only his mind was satisfied and his body craved more, Sparrow was wise enough to know never to gorge down too much after starving for so long. He knew this by watching one of his travel-companions make the mistake, and greedily stuff his face with deer's carcass after a month of practical starvation. The result of said mistake was death; and although Sparrow may be thought of as heartless to merely shed a tear and move on to the next wolf, he was just versatile and dying and abandoning had become a usual for his partners to do.
Sighing, the little wolf fell to his back and stared amused, into the sky. Watching the colors of the night begin to play out, Sparrow let himself relax, melting into the fine, cool soil near the lake.
Just as he was about to subconsciously drift into sleep, Solitaire's quiet voice brought him back to Earth. "Sparrow..." He turned his head in her direction and smiled friendly, "Yeah 'Taire?" There was a small pause and hint of hesitance that didn't go unnoticed by the wolf. "Where are your parents? Are you alone?" Immediately, a violent shudder rippled through his body. His eyes went wide for a moment before he remembered the question; too overwhelmed by the term 'parents' to reply quickly. "I... They... I..." Sparrow's gaze fell like a ghost onto Solitaire, but gave the impression he was looking through her. Completely zoned out, memories flashed through his brain. "Leo! Hey Leo! C'mon slowpoke, let's play!" "Leonardo, shake off all those filthy feathers!" "A bigger world? Flying? Silly brother, the den is our biggest -and safest- world! And flying? You're not a bird, dummy. Wait 'til mom hears this, haha!" "You will turn into something big, my son... But for now, you are still small! And you're a wolf. No matter the feathers or wings, nothing is going to change that. So do me a favor and give that silly dream a rest and start acting like what you were born as.." "Leo, you think too much, haha!" "Hey, where 'ya 'goin?" "... Leo? Is something wrong?" "Leo...?" "Leo!" "Come back!" "No! Come back! Please!" "Leonardo...!"
"I'm not Leonardo anymore... From now on, my name is Sparrow. "
"And I'm alone..." The memories stopped. After a couple minutes, he blinked rapidly, trying to clear the images from his head. Sparrow's wide, neon-orange eyes closed for a long time, the voices slowly dissipating. When he opened them again, Solitaire's concerned eyes met his. He tried to smile to reassure her, but the effort proved fruitless. "Are you like me?" Sparrow's mouth opened just slightly as he was taken aback. She... she was alone as well? That explained why a brother or a mother hadn't come bounding along with her as she ran upon the frozen lake. "Solitaire..." he said with concern. Pushing aside his own problems, the little wolf stepped forward and closed his eyes as he nuzzled her neck and chest. For a moment, Sparrow wondered if he had done that to comfort his friend, or if he did that to comfort himself. Failing to give one of his famous grins, Sparrow forced the corners of his mouth to tug upwards. "We have each other...! And... and friends stick by one another. So... so we aren't lonely unless... we aren't together." A smile finally enveloped his face and Sparrow hummed as he nuzzled his friend once more.
He knew that he hadn't quite answered her correctly, and he knew that the question would come eventually. Inhaling deeply, the pup stepped back and began. "At ... home ..." Sparrow re-tasted the word, feeling the foreign aura it had upon his tongue. "-- I was always made fun of for what I believed in. My sister... my brother... they kept laughing and l-laughing at me; they told me that I was stupid for thinking I could fly... They told me that my dreams were too big for my body, and that I could never do the things I believed I could. Mom didn't believe in me either... And dad... he was more proud of my siblings than I. He always looked at me like I was a disgrace...
Like I was a mistake."Taking another ragged breath, Sparrow re-contained hismelf and continued. "When I was seven --Months, that is-- I ran away from home. I could hear my brothers and sisters calling for me. --Mom and dad were out hunting and it was night, by the way.-- It was the perfect time to go..." Sparrow looked away for a moment, unable to make any eye-contact with his soul-audience. "--I'm 11 months, just so you know. For the last 4 months, I spent my life surviving with others; traveling, hunting and denning with any other company I could find. I even bunked with a bear-cub for a night! ... Although... that didn't last long." Sparrow gave a short, mirthless laugh as he remembered the night: being chased and nearly caught by the mother-bear as she returned to her cave."Switching from loner-to-loner as they tired of me or died... I just kind of got through four months. And now... here I am. With you." Sparrow's eyes remained glued towards the ground. "Sometimes I wonder when you will leave me too..." The words were below a whisper, and it was unlikely for his partner to have heard them. Sparrow sighed as he looked up enough to change his stair from grass to Solitaire's paws. His voice cracked between a normal voice and a whisper as he managed to look her in the eyes, "What's your story?"Speech Thoughts Everything Else

Sparrow seemed slightly jolted by her question. He hesitated, and Solitaire felt that maybe she should've kept her questions to herself. "Solitaire..." He rose from where he lay, looking into the ever darkening night sky. He came close and nuzzled his head into her soft white chest. Oh, how she felt for this little wolf. This little spark of light, this bright spot in an ever dimming world. She nuzzled him back, and pressed her muzzle against his cheek taking in his scent and feeling a great sense of being. "We have each other...! And... and friends stick by one another. So... so we aren't lonely unless... we aren't together." He said, showing a trace of a smile. She replayed the words again in her head, so glad to hear them. And she would stick by him, If it was all she could do. She would keep his light from ever going out. He stepped back, clearly to speak again, and Solitaire listened intently. His story was saddening, the rejection by his family, the teasing, and his recent months of getting by, made Solitaire's eyes well up. She'd had bad times, but not like Sparrow. His life had barely begun and already he had gone through much more turmoil than should be experienced by a pup. "Switching from loner-to-loner as they tired of me or died... I just kind of got through four months. And now... here I am. With you." He looked at the ground, And said something Solitaire could not hear. She did not press it. After a moment he looked into her face again. "What's your story?"Solitaire sighed heavily and blinked away the moisture in her bright eyes. "I don't have much of a story, really. My father was a wolf. A great white wolf. I loved him very much. He . . .found my mother somehow, she was a dog, a husky or something like that, I never was quite sure. She would never tell us anything about herself or where she came from. She died when I was a yearling, about your age, she was kicked by an elk. My father raised my two brothers and I for another year, but he got lonely, and left us to find another mate. My brothers went different directions and I did the same . . .I've been alone for awhile now, and I'm pretty sure I won't ever see any of them again . . ."She couldn't blink away the tears this time and they slid down her muzzle, staining her fur. She had no right to cry, but they came regardless. "I'll stay with you Sparrow, I'll help you, I'll hunt for you, please . . ."Her voice trembled a bit as she looked up. "I don't want to be alone anymore."SolitaireSparrow

After hearing Solitaire's story, Sparrow really couldn't help but feel bad for her. She was much older, a good hunter, and probably even a lot wiser, but even then, runners such as they- still have to stop and catch their breaths. And Sparrow knew and understood that if you were just one step behind your usual, everything would catch up with you.
As he watched his friend intently for any sudden change of emotions, the little wolf was gaining courage to act upon her sadness. Boldly stepping forward, Sparrow folded his ears back and licked away Solitaire's tears. "I wont leave you alone."Stepping back, he replayed her story and reaction in his mind. He looked up, "Concerns in the past make you re-consider the future--" He whispered. "--And I learned that you should never doubt your destiny. Solitaire, if your history upsets you, it's best to think of it as an obstacle that you no longer need to worry about. I tend to put the past behind me." Moments passed and night cloaked the land under darkness.
Sparrow sniffed about for a moments and wiggled his ears as he smiled boyishly. "We should find somewhere to sleep. I don't know about you, but I sense rainfall not too long from now."Speech Thoughts Everything Else

Solitaire was comforted by Sparrow's words. Who would have known that such a young wolf would have within him such words of wisdom. A warmth wash over her as he washed the tears from her face and spoke words she'd most wanted to hear. "I wont leave you alone."Solitaire noticed it was beginning to get dark. Sparrow lightened the mood and smiled his bright smile. He pointed out the likely coming of rain, and suggested finding a suitable place to sleep. Solitaire shook off the heaviness of her emotions and kicked into survival mode. She raised her head, sniffing, surveying the area for it's potential. A cave would do nicely, but she didn't smell the musty cold of a cave anywhere nearby. Suddenly she picked up something that could be of use. "I smell . . ." She raised her head higher, double checking her senses. ". . . A stale badger smell, and fresh earth. An old badger burrow would be a good place to sleep, provided it isn't in a low place. We'd better look for it, or something like it-" She looked up. "-I don't like the looks of those clouds."

((Will be color-coded at a later time.))
Solitaire diagnosed the weather carefully, and Sparrow was grateful for the successful change of topic. "I smell..." Sparrow also focused himself onto finding shelter, and very quickly did he catch onto the scent. ". . . A stale badger smell, and fresh earth. An old badger burrow would be a good place to sleep, provided it isn't in a low place. We'd better look for it, or something like it-"
Sparrow had only once take refuge in a badger's home once, and at that time, he was nearly drowned with mud through a harsh storm. The little wolf suppressed a whimper at the memory and considered Solitaire's idea with hesitance. But his trademark bravery held to his dignity, and with a determined nod, Sparrow showed his agreement.
"I don't like the look of those clouds."
His hazel-orange eyes rolled upwards to get a glimpse of the dark, dangerous clouds above.
He began to subconsciously walk towards the badger-smell while occupying his mind in figuring out just how the clouds could change color so quickly, like so. Then another thought entered his mind, "So, my "husker-wolf" friend," He grinned, hoping that was the species she'd mentioned to be in her genes, "- Do you like storms? And is there a particular reason why or why not?"
From his even earlier days, Sparrow always had a love and interest in Lightening and Thunder. If the clouds and chemicals mixed well enough, his favorites of nature's riots would commence and the storm would seem more like a play. He smiled as he went deeper into his thoughts, almost not noticing the light rain that was beginning to pour harder with each step.
If all went well, he would have to experience yet another collapsing and flooding of an old badger's shelter.

(I'll color the speech and add a pic laters, =)
Solitaire listened to Sparrow while she tried harder to zero in on he badger burrow's scent. The clouds rolling in brought thick humidity, making it harder to catch the smell.
"So, my "husker-wolf" friend," He said. "- Do you like storms? And is there a particular reason why or why not?"
Solitaire laughed and then made a growling sound. His attempt at the word husky was comical. It was valiant of him to remember it, and give it a try. She didn't correct him.
"I admit, i'm afraid of storms." She said sadly. "I've seen alot of storms in my two years, and i'd say I have a healthy fear of them." She looked at his excitement and twitched her white brow's with disaproval. "You'd be afraid too, if you'd seen the storm I once saw."
She shook the memory of lightning striking the pine tree, cracking it. The winds, so strong that trees had bent like blades of grass . . . She looked up. She hoped this one wouldn't be near as bad. She caught a sharp smell, and loped away for a moment, following it. She came upon the burrow. It was in a small gully, and small. Too small. She trotted back to Sparrow.
"It's a tiny burrow, not big enough for us. It's also low, rain water would collect and flood us out."
Solitaire's ears flattened nervously. They'd have to think of something else.

"It's a tiny burrow, not big enough for us. It's also low, rain water would collect and flood us out.""Meh, I know that scene," Sparrow subconsciously mumbled under his breath. "Yeah, you're right." he spoke up a little louder. Rain was now beginning to fall harder onto his fur; causing the light, caramel-ish colors to turn dark and muddy-looking. The dirt underneath his paws were starting to give in as they tried to engulf his paws. Quickly stepping out of the gooey mud, Sparrow desperately looked around for any sort of shelter.
His pumpkin eyes caught onto something and his brain quickly identified it as a large, steep rock. The solid figure was so tall, the top had successfully curved over-top of a tree. Unfortunately, the wall of rock had no holes to offer them shelter with, and the tree was in the way of them going under the rock. But Sparrow's mind had already focused on a more steady plan: The tree.
The big, Thick-branched, Willow tree.
The little wolf's eyes darted to the rock that served as an umbrella for the Willow, and flashed back to the tree. Possibilities swam through his mind, and within a split second, he caught onto one.
Immediately, a large grin befell his face. Without taking his eyes off the Willow, Sparrow spoke with a dangerously-daring tone towards Solitaire. "I hope you know how to climb..."And without waiting for her reply, the wolf had launched himself into the air. Quickly grappling onto the lowest branch of the Willow, he instantaneously clawed and abused the bark before he was able to brace himself, and successfully flip onto the branch. Giving a hesitant glance towards the perch above, he furrowed his brow in a determined stance, and leaped on the higher wood; landing on all fours, Sparrow caught himself as he nearly slipped due to the extra-weight gained from his drenched layers of fur.
The wolf took notes of the weather, making sure that the wind would not be strong enough to cause too much stress while above ground."I know I may seem crazy, but I think this might work!" Sparrow yelled over the pouring rain. A vicious roar of thunder echoed through his words, and the male double-checked for any signs of up-coming lightening. It seemed that they were lucky, as the storm did not seem to be much more than loud clashes and harsh rain.
Waiting for Solitaire to hop up, herself, Sparrow gave her a nod that spoke clear with his hard eyes,
"We can do this."

The rain was now pouring, dreching Solitaire's black and white coat. She gave a quick shake that did little to improve her wet state. She looked up to see Sparrow. He had become extremely excited about something. He was glancing around, and Solitaire could tell something drastic was taking place in his vibrant little mind. His eyes were set on a nearby tree, and Solitaire saw his lips pull back in a grin. "I hope you know how to climb..."And he leaped forward, scrambling up into the willow tree. "Climb?!" Solitaire gasped. Wolves couldn't climb trees! Or could they? As she watched him, is was obvious Sparrow could. When she thought about it, she had never tried to climb a tree, so how did she know she couldn't? Exasperated and wet, she shrugged and ran over to the lowest branch, determined to give it a try. "I know I may seem crazy, but I think this might work!" Sparrow said, still making his way up. Solitaire swallowed the fear and doubt and did as sparrow did. The branches were wide enough to offer a sort of perch, and after some less than graceful scrabbling and clawing, she made it onto the limb under Sparrow. It was a rather unusual spot, but it was dry; or dry- er. She looked up at Sparrow, yelling over the sound of the pounding rain. "We'll be fine, so long as there's no lightning!" She blinked out the rain drops that were clouding her eyes. "I hope it's a fast moving storm!"She was eager for the storm to finsh its torrent and leave them alone. The sky cracked loudly and rumbled as if to laugh at her. Her tail tucked involuntarily. A strong wind blew the rain into her nose, making her sputter and cough. Wind, she thought, wind will move the storm clouds. She wished for more wind, as long as it wasn't the damaging kind. "You okay up there?" She yelled. The rain with the added wind had become blinding and she desperatly looked though the muddle to see Sparrow or hear the sound of his voice.

Sparrow kept twitching as a rush of cold consumed his body. Shivering, the male held tightly to the tree. Leaves kept brushing into his face, and the water in his fur kept sticking to them. He shook his caramel-coat with desperacy and annoyance- trying to keep firm on perch while doing so.
Then he realized it.
"I..." "I'M ON A FREAKING TREE!" he hollered enthusiastically.
Having so much of his mind focused on the storm and Solitaire's safety, Sparrow hadn't taken the time to fully understand his position rather than his predicament. His mouth gaped as his eyes widened in shock. He was actually off the ground! And on a tree! Do wolves even do that?!
"You alright up there?" Solitaire called with concern. Sparrow laughed heartidly and smiled back as he leaned against the willow's trunk. "I'm great!" he beamed and set himself in a firmer stance. The smile didn't leave his face, even as the pup looked down to see the soil being flooded with water nearly two inches off the ground. A roar of thunder was heard and then the rain began to lessen. Maybe the storm was just short but harsh?
The wolf looked up through the canopy of water-sprinkled leaves- trying to get a look at the clouds, he moved just enough to slip a paw however, and that was enough to send him falling down. He let out a surprised yelp before hitting the ground. Getting up on shaky legs, Sparrow shook himself- but made nearly no difference to the mud wrapped up in his fur. He growled slightly, Sparrow didn't like being dirty. Mangy, sure- but dirty? Nu-uh!
He gave a helpless look to Solitaire, briefly taking time to notice that the sudden rush of weather had ended, and only thick drops of water were falling off the leaves of trees looming above.

"SPARROW!" Solitaire screeched as she saw him plummet towards the ground and an extremely deep puddle. Her heart seemed to thud to a stop as she saw him hit the mud and water. For a moment shock took over and she did nothing. Then, he got up. Relief poured over like the rain had as she realized that the fall hadn't been as far as it had seemed. Then as quickly as it started, the storm tapered off, leaving nothing but fat drips, grey sky, and low distant rumbles. She attempted to get down out of the tree, only to fall in the mud herself. She got up, pulling her feet out of the thick mess. She squished over to Sparrow. "Are you okay?" She asked. She washed his wet face, not waiting for an answer. "The clouds are moving off, thank goodness." The wolf-dog was tired. Spring storms were definately not her favorite. She then did what came naturally when she was tired without thinking. She sat. Her white rump landed squarely in a large messy plain of dark mud. "AH!" She gasped when she realized what she'd done. Instead of complaining, she merely frowned, her tired eyes blinking slowly. She was starting to miss winter.

Sparrow grunted as half his body sunk into the muddy ground. He was certainly glad to be on a tree while the short-lived storm took place. "I'm fine, you don't have to--" but with a PLOP! Solitaire had joined him on the ground. He gave a little laugh, "I'm fine. Are you alright, he glanced with a wince to where her rump sunk in the mud.
With half his body dipped in thick, heavy mud, the little wolf quickly realized how hard it would be to move. He raised a heavy back leg, grimacing at the disgusting sound it made as it left the drenched Earth, and began to shake it. But after a couple shakes, his foot fell tiredly back into the soil- his efforts worthless.
"I'm too-" he grunted in exhasperation while trying to jump out of the mud-puddle ((OOC: the Mud Puddle is an amazing story xD)). "I'm too small! And all this mud --urk! -- it's too heavy!" Sparrow's orange eyes looked desperately into Solitaire's azure ones. "Help?" he said while offering a hopeless grin. While the Earth began to soak up the extra liquid, it also began to consume the little wolf as well.
Darkness was clouding up the sky, and it was then that Sparrow realized how tired he was. The realization was late, but nevertheless strong. He sighed, "I'm beginning to form a distaste for storms."
