Falcon sat. He wasnt tired, but he needed to sit. To think. Traveling, hunting, living without a pack was unatural. The feeling of being without a pack was new to him, and though he had been a loner for a few weeks now, he was still not completely comfortable with it. He looked around. What was this place? Whatever it used to be, it had not long ago been burnt. He had been doing well, prey wise, until now. There was practically nothing here except a snowed over charred forest. Out of frustration and unfamiliar lonliness, Falcon had taken to talking to himself. "What am I supposed to EAT OUT HERE!" As if an answer to his question, something caught his attention and a spark of light reflected off of his eye as he looked up. He watched a hawk circle. It was hunting. Too easy. He watched it circle and circle, biding his time. Suddenly the hawk dove down, reaching its talons out for a mouse that its sharp eyes had spotted. Falcon was a blur as he darted onto the scene and grasped the hawk's wing. He flung it. It screeched angrily, for being assaulted and robbed. Falcon knew most sensible wolves would have killed the hawk and eaten it, But Falcon rather liked birds, and besides, he was'nt hungry enough to want to bother with all those feathers. He grabbed the mouse. His grapple with the hawk left him feeling playful. He tossed it and caught it several times, but then decided he'd best swallow it, as the hawk was still eyeing him. It was gone in a single crunch. He laughed to himself, his black lips parting in a wolf grin. He mocked the hawk. "Hah, hah! Wassa matter Pigeon face?" The hawk, as if insulted, turned and flew away. Falcon sat again and dug his rear toes into neck for a good scratch. He stood up and shook all the hairs back into place and then started into a trot. He would keep moving, and wouldnt stop til this place was far behind him.

[shadow=red,left,300][C]aelum [/shadow] She trod forward on light paws, looking around fearfully. By now she hardly had to try and be quiet, her frame was light, and more so now that sadness ran through her and her weight had gone down. Regardless, she would not let him win. Her ice hued orbs narrowed a bit as determination set in. She would move on, oh yes. Now all she needed was some rest. Then she noticed it. The birdsong she had been hearing bits of for hours was gone. Not totally, but she senced something was a bit off. Well, Caelum wouldn't give too much pause, but perhaps this required inspection. The inky tip of her tail flicked as she turned, moving towards the epicenter of quiet. Not quiet enough. She heard something... Someone. As the cry went out, she stopped, a circumspect expression passing over her. Then whoever was nearby called a taunt to another. After a moment she spotted a bird flapping off, seemingly annoyed. What was this? She had no clue. It had to be amusing though. But her ivory audits captured the beats of paws on the earth. It was a rhythmic sound, hitting her in a patterned sort of way. Freezing, she realized the other wolf was coming towards her, unbeknownst to him of course. He seemed to be leaving, but to her, he was only coming. She didn't much want to be around others at the moment, much less a male. But what could she do? She had been too close and now that he was moving, the seconds it would take to approach left no room to flee. But what had she to fear? After all, this was another new land to her. She would hold steady and wait for the innevitable to come. Eventually, Cae had to talk to someone? Why not practice? She sat back on her haunches, a skinny mess, but prepared for anything. She was quite good at surviving most types of encounters, and this would be no different. OOC: Hope you don't mind I had the muse and figured this topic might get interesting.

As Falcon was trotting and licking the remaining mouse from his lips, he suddenly caught a sharp scent. A Wolf! He was surprised he had not smelled it before, but he had been upwind after all. He looked around. He didn't see anyone. He trotted a little ways forward, and once over the small terrace in front of him, he caught sight of the scent wearer. It was a white wolf, female from the looks of her, with some sort of marking upon her forehead. Falcon licked his teeth in thought. This was not his territory and he would not fight over it. It could possibly be hers or her family's, but he'd noticed no scent markers. He decided they were both lone travellers and no threat to one another. He saw her eyes set on him, so he waved his brown and black tail slowly in greeting.
"Hey there," He called, not too loudly. "Hope I'm not being any kind of intruder or anything."
He lowered his head the slightest bit, so as not to be aggressive looking. He approached and gave her a respectful distance. She was a lovely wolf, with icy blue eyes that seemed as though they could be cold to blink around. The mark on her head was black and shaped, Falcon thought, sort of like a cloud. He sat down, and dipped his muzzle.
"I'm called Falcon, I'm just a passing loner. I don't mean to be forward, But what's a she-wolf like you doin' out here?"
He chuckled a little, and his black lips parted again, showing his teeth. He thumped his tail again in good nature, hopeful for a little prolonged company. He had become very lonely of course, being on his own, and was glad not to be talking to himself this time.

The sight of him was nothing spectacular. It didn't impress caelum like some had. But it was enough, him simply being here, to make herself have to stop herself from either cringing or running off. No. That was what she did with... him. And how had that turned out? She was yelled at and defeated, and the kicker was she came out looking like a weak coward. This male wasn't him, for sure. Although his attitude rang to her the same. Always the same it seemed.
But, unlike the unforgiving other, his multi colored tail wagged cautiously in a greeting. Something she never got in that stupid little 'reunion' of sorts. But enough comparison, she thought, studying him carefully, everything down to how he placed his paws would be determining how she felt about him. She was once a pack leader after all, and still had the memory of how she did things then.
When the words hit her audits they weren't insanely rambunctious like they had been when he yelled out earlier. Now his voice was softer, not too much, but soft enough that she was beginning to dismiss his as any sort of threat for now. She had gone through enough. About time someone was as easygoing as arrow had been once. But that was a rather short encounter in which she spilled her guts to him just because she could and he would listen. After that, nothing. She left.
All the more did she let herself calm when he continued to show a non-threatening posture. She accepted it. Caelum was a feral creature, broken the way no one should be, and body language was her first line of defense in deciding if she would trust someone, like them or not. Of course the distance was probably recommended. Caelum still wasn't in the best of mental states, though calming down like this made her less dangerous.
His name was a good one, she thought. It somehow just suited this male, though why yet she wasn't entirely sure. And then the question. Ah, those dreadful things that always demanded and answer from her. She really hated them. Mainly because hers was a story to be told in full, though painful to both recount and hear. It never made sense otherwise. And what was she doing here? Did it really matter anyways? She wasn't able to find a good answer to that.
With a surprised blink of her ice chip orbs, caelum responded, not a moment off beat in this 'conversation'. She wouldn't really call it that herself, but that was what it was, right? " Oh, same as you I would suppose. Just passing. And 'like me' is pretty general then, since I don't think you know much of anything about me." Her tone was nonchalant, mainly playful in her own sort of way. It made the words which could have bitten at him harshly or sounded mean and arrogant, their own sort of thing. But nothing bad was meant by them. Of course she was in a bit of a bad mood, but that usually solved itself. She wasn't one to be harsh without a very good reason behind it anyways.

Falcon could see the female was sizing him up, deciding what she thought of him. It was a perfectly normal thing for one wolf to do to another, but Falcon still disliked it. It reminded him too much of the days when he had been dominated by the usurper of his father. He would always feel Yahr's condescending stare, and often felt the eyes from other wolves because of it. But he sighed and forced himself to get over it. She listened to his brief speaking, then answered. "Oh, same as you I would suppose. Just passing. And 'like me' is pretty general then, since I don't think you know much of anything about me." Falcon could see she was slightly peeved. Most she-wolves were at times. He grinned and relaxed with his front legs apart. She reminded him of his mother in her younger years. Only his mother had been much worse. Cranky females were not something to be avoided in Falcon's teaching. He'd learned all he knew from his father, who would tease or pour relentless affection upon his snappy mother. She was never less snappy, but she was more loving. Of course, he didn't strictly go by his father's example anymore, after his mother told him what she had hidden from her own son for so long. It was hard for Falcon to think of good memories without coming back to that. He pushed it away. "No, I don't suppose I do." He answered after a moment, still thinking a little fondly about his early life. He arched a brow and held a little smirk. "But I only meant that this doesn't look like the kind of environment you'd enjoy. Most females, in my experience anyway, like the pack scene." He blinked his golden eyes, which glinted a bit in the light and were full of copper specks. "But then, I never did understand much about females."

The reply caught her off guard. It took a bit of an effort to not give him a quick reply, probably a hostile one at that. But what good would it do her anyways? Caelum didn't used to be like that. Why be easy to profile when a small amount of discipline would allow her to be that much harder to predict? She was a bit of a tactical one when she put her mind to it. Well, it may have been true indeed that she had never been the sort to wander alone, without the reinforcements of her pack-members. But those days were over, and she liked the forest most of all terrains. It was so much more useful to her than a simple open space or anything else really. So without her old friend and family at her side, this had seemed the most comfortable area to go to. Of course, she hadn't anticipated this meeting. Maybe he didn't understand her gender, but that made no difference. She was an long enduring individual and her issues were selectively her own. But, his speaking of packs had hit hard. At least it was easier now, feeling these things, the emotional recoil that occurred at the mention of certain things. The only reason Caelum was not in her own terra, with her pups and life, was it was all gone. Destroyed and she could only blame herself, as her mate who abandoned her did. Yes, maybe she wanted things to be different, to go back to the familiar feelings of her home. But that would never happen. Even if she so longingly wished it so. Never mind all that. She had been through enough to know how to get past this well enough to function. Her thoughts blazed through her mind, searching for a good response and soon enough coming up with something, "Well, maybe. But I guess I'm not all that predictable. I was in a pack, but that didn't really last. And, my name is Caelum." Her voice came smoothly enough, but wavered slightly at the mention of her old pack. Now that she didn't feel quite as hostile, she let herself loosen up, adding her new name into the mix. It wasn't one she had always had, but it suited her well enough. The accent she had picked up was more apparent when she spoke it, saying every syllable of it in a well practiced way. Kah-ey-loom. How it must sound to those who had not been the same place as she... Few words were so fun to say, rolling from her tongue with ease. OOC: nyyya D: it could have been longer if I had the time. I love her name so much though <3

Falcon heard the sadness in the She-wolf's voice. He immediately sympathized with her, and felt his own lonely pain. He knew very well the empty void that being alone brought to a wolf. The hole in his life that only a pack could fill. There was a desperate need for acceptance and belonging, it was ancient and it was constant, telling them they needed a pack. And they did if they wanted to survive.
He now felt the soft part of his heart burning, feeling a great sense of caring and camaraderie for this she-wolf. He was very caring with all females, of course, emulating his father's ways. But with her, he truly felt they were in the same boat.
"...And, my name is Caelum."
Falcon had never heard such a name, but he very much liked the way it sounded.
"Caelum," He repeated. "Very nice."
He looked at her for a moment, and besides her icy eyes, he noticed she was sort of thin.
"If you're looking for good hunting, I would advise you to turn around. Ain't nothing out that way for several miles at least. Fire ran through it not too long ago, most of it's ash and black stumps. I'm glad I've finally reached the end of it."
He looked behind her at the green wood she'd come from, looking forward to being surrounded by it himself. The mouse he'd stolen had been his first food on a day or two, and he was glad he would be able to find better hunting now.
"I've been on my own for quite a while now, I know a good bit about living alone. How long have you been flying solo?"
After he'd said it, he wished he hadn't. It wasn't any of his business really. He hadn't meant to pry, but had only been curious. He couldn't take it back of course, but he tried to right the question.
"I mean, How long have you been traveling?"
It wasn't much better, he decided, but rather than keep digging a hole he couldn't get out of, he frowned at his failure and put his ears back.
"Idiot," He mumbled to himself.

She almost gave a sort of smile when he commented on her name. It might not be one she was fully used to as of yet, but it was a good one and she liked it herself. It was new, like her life here would be. A life no longer plaited by all those ghastly memories. Her head tilted slightly to the side as she looked at him with an expression more clear of that calculated carefulness she had developed, and filled with more of a compassionate look than she had worn in a while. It was finally time to get on and not lock others out. Maybe. Small paw steps would lead to leaps in the direction she desired.
His comment about the lack of prey where he had come from was suprising in a way. He cirtainly didn't have to bother telling her, but the fact that he did made her like him a bit more. She was indeed thin, and hunting was far up on the priority list for the Fae. Of course not all of it was hunger. But she would recover. Caelum survived, and as long as she kept it up she would do fine. Her audits flicked as she considered her newly made decisions, and just what her next more might be. Hunting was obvious, but after that she had nothing. Either wander like the suffering creature she was, or get up the nerve to go somewhere. Like a pack. But for now she didn't really feel like going anywhere.
Her posture had just taken on further relaxation when his words slammed into her. It was like being hit by one of the other one's brutal and sarcastic comments that he took no notice of. But this was different. The look on his face, this falcon, as he realized the mistake was nearly as bad. Because he truly looked regretful, something she hadn't gotten in her last bad encounter with the male she now loathed.
Her own reaction was only beginning to it's full effect, when she saw the kicker. His expression when he knew he couldn't really fix the words, and how he had still tried. At first she was shocked, not capable of any sort of response. And of course the pain eminating from her fresh mental scars was crippling. But she wasn't going to act the same as last time she went through this, wouldn't fall to the ground like a silly weakling while her mind ran through the bloody memories. No way would that happen. She would steel herself this time.
Not to mention he was the one creature who had gotten to her in any real way since... Well, long enough ago. So her mind raced, emotions spiked, and response was plotted out, resolving to get on with it, and try not to make him feel worse. It was the best she could do at this time, "A while... I-I've been on my own for some time. Went here and there and didn't stay with any pack I met for long. I understand what you meant, and don't trouble yourself over it. I can handle it you know." And as often was so, the wolf spoke only the truth of the things she thought, and voiced exactly what she meant with the addition of much more. She had many little skills that might be somewhat limited, but speaking was something she did with poise and consideration. Though she had her fair share of wrenching screw ups that were not so fun to think about.
The female rose her bright orbs to his, saying with none of the spoken words at all that she was forgiving of this. After all, being Hirt like she had meant that some thing were slightly less aweful than they normally might be. Despite the broken heart she had, needing mending and care, she thought that it was time to start letting wolves in and taking risks again. And so it would be. A luminous shine hit her eyes and made the chilling color some amount warmer in the simple acceptance of this ending and beginning all spurred on by a stranger. How odd, yet she enjoyed it for a second, holding onto it because some things end before you know it.

Falcon was glad when the female was able to give an answer after a bit of silence.
"A while... I-I've been on my own for some time. Went here and there and didn't stay with any pack I met for long. I understand what you meant, and don't trouble yourself over it. I can handle it you know."
The big male looked down silently. He'd upset her, but she'd composed herself quickly, and had he not been watching for her reaction, he would've missed it. He sat there for a minute, not saying anything, and again feeling that the two of them had a great deal in common. He had only recently come to terms with his own solidarity, and had decided to embrace it the best he could until better circumstances came up. It had taken him a long time to accept his life, and he was aware that Caelum might not have found that acceptance yet.
"Forgive me," He said quietly and then erased the matter from his mind, telling himself not to ever mention the past of other wolves unless they openly spoke of it. There was a very good reason some pasts are not spoken of. He knew this all too well, as his own beginnings were a sensitive subject. As Falcon looked at Caelum again, he could tell she was grappling with some inner turmoil that then suddenly seemed to resolve. He suddenly felt he would like to cheer her up.
"What do you say we go on a hunt together?" He said enthusiasticcally in his deep voice. He was extremely hungry and he had an idea that she probably was too. "Two wolves are always better than one when it comes to hunting, and we could both use a good meal."
He waved his tail and trotted past the she-wolf into the green of the bushes. He stopped and waited to see if she would join him. He sniffed the air, looking for deer scent perhaps. Instead he caught whiffs of rabbit, skunk, and something else which was either squirrel or badger. A rabbit would be nice, but Falcon had hoped for something more filling. But, he was not a picky hunter, and whatever they came across he would be grateful for.

She honestly had not expected all this when she woke up in the morning. Life was insane and today she had been caught more than off guard. Her auditors nearly flattened themselves in remorse at the whole becoming of this moment. They only just managed to catch onto his murmured request for forgiveness. It was chance that she even did, hearing the sounds but only managing to find the meaning of them after a moments pause.
The feelings of regret that were born of this little mess brew slightly once she understood. But she pushed past it, allowed her lobes to flick back for just a moment to convey her understanding and acceptance, and also the fact she she would not hold anything against him. It wasn't who she was, and eventually she hoped he might see that. Caelum had a soft heart at times, and she assumed it wasn't waisted in these moments when their similarities became so obvious.
The proposition, though a fine idea it was, came as a bit of a surprise. But that, the wolf had gotten better acclimated to now. And, it only took a short moment of consideration before she was easily sure of exactly what her answer would be. Of course, it would be any hungry Fae's reaction to this idea. And with good reason. His point made, was a very good one that would not be ignored by the emptiness in her stomach. Two wolves would indeed have better chances. It was simple enough, and almost instantly approved of by the ivory lupa who stood there, now recovered and ready for what he brought up.
There was a wave of his tail before he trotted past her, into the dense green flora that carpeted the terra before them. Her maw came amazingly close into twisting itself into a wry grin. Maybe all this wasn't how she once lived, and it only just had a sort of resemblance to her home, but for now it may just do for her. Her azure oculars fixed on him, watching as the brute seemed to pause a beat, the rhythm of life slowing a might bit before his appendages brought him to a halt, waiting for her.
While he scented the air around them, she took a second to reflect on how this was the first time anyone had waited for her since... well, long enough ago that this was the first time she could consciously recollect ever actually taking notice of such a thing in full. One more step in a progression of change she guessed. It wasn't all that unwelcome either. She was observant, and the thought of this wasn't exactly all that pleasing, but it wasn't something she would shy away from.
Her own pistons pushed her up, coming to standing position now. The she-wolf shook herself, as if ridding herself of the previous moments, and started forward. Her ice-like eyes shone in a different way, a gleam of anticipation of the nearing hunt catching over them and illumination them in a new way that made her look deceivingly less formidable than she had in the first moments of their meeting. She approached him with mixed feelings, unsure of how she felt about the male now, but regardless, in a much more happy mood. It was like water as it slides off of the waxy surface of leaves, only there long enough to make an impression before rolling off and leaving a residue that would not last too long.
No matter the harsher layer she had developed on her outside, caelum was a kind soul, and ever ready to show it to those she felt became worthy. Falcon was enough like herself and had acted in such a way that she was really given no reason to dislike him. Caelum flicked her own banner before raising her dome, breathing in the smells of the earth around her, and developing a plan of action. Rabbit was on the air... And at a young age she had learned how to put such a thing to use for her own gain. She had hunted enough to know some tricks. Maybe nothing impressive or new, but it could work for their purposes. With a renewed brightness and a overwhelming hunger and playfulness, she mover forward with a determined glint to her eyes that meant she was entirely read to do this. Her steps were the silent once of a well practiced huntress, becoming almost inaudible. Glancing back, she beckoned falcon to come along, for this would be the time for them to banish hunger and focus themselves. perhaps a day to remember in her short experience in this land.

Falcon's ears perked as Caelum came forward quietly. He was delighted that she accepted his proposal. He sensed no more hostile or mistrustful vibes from her, and she went silently by him, displaying her superb hunting skills as she did. The tan, brown and black wolf let his tongue hang out in a wolf smile. He liked hunting, He liked focusing on other things. This meeting had reminded him of many of the memories he kept buried, and he was eager to bury them again. He was usually a happy somewhat cheerful wolf, playful and clownish. He was eager to return to his default state. She began the hunt, and they set out, leaping over several fallen trees. She had scented the rabbit before they'd even took to ground, and he caught the rich light vapor through his nostrils. Falcon was an avid hunter, as being alone had made him. He remembered the days when he had hunted for his mother, when he had still been very young. Ever since he had been practicing and honing his skills, which had been all the better for him. He was good at it, and it showed in his muscles. He had not been thin in a very long time, and being a loner had allowed him to move to better hunting grounds whenever he wanted. Having no pack, he had not been tied down to one territory. The previous winter, however, he had joined a pack. He got along and hunted with the others all winter, and they were able to bring down moose and elk. But when the spring came round, all the other wolf broke into pairs and split from the pack, leaving him alone. He found being a loner was not fun, but doable in his situation. His nose felt a sharp burn that told him prey was near. He crouched instantly, his eyes darting around for signs of movement. He found it, a small hare, nibbling something in the opening between two fir trees. Falcon could see the hole not three yards away. If he wanted this kill, he would have to be quick. He checked the wind, then flew from his hiding place onto the scene. Everything seemed in slow motion as he snagged the little brown body in his teeth and bit down, killing it. He threw it up and caught it, laughing. "You were fast little buddy, but not quite fast enough," He chuckled, catching the prize. He suddenly remembered his new acquaintance. He searched around for Caelum, wondering where he'd left her and if she'd caught something as well.

Out of the corner of her eye she thought she saw him smile in response to her accepting the proposition of a hunt. Her own expression lit up the smallest bit more. Before she had used to be more outgoing and bright, the sort of wolf who was constantly perky. Of course she wasn't going to start acting that way again very fast. Maybe she would always be sort of the opposite. Well, she was on her way to being happier. It was a step.
Together they set out, flying over logs that lie in their path. The smell of the rabbit held foremost in her mind. One of her favorite things since she could remember was the thrill of chasing down her targets. Hunting, was a joy. Recent events hadn't allowed her much practice, but she figured it would still be easy enough. The lack of a pack was nothing more than a painful memory though, since she was perfectly capable of taking care of herself without anyone.
However good she was at this, the fact that she had someone else nearby that was also hunting felt reassuring. She was only thin because she had been miserably wandering for some time. Now it was time to get back to something at least sort of like her former self. Now she would catch a meal.
Watching Falcon for a moment, she watched him turn to follow the scent of a rabbit. She herself paused a second, head tilted and sniffed the air again. Where there was one, there must be more of them. It hardly took any time at all to catch a whiff of what she searched for and go off in search of it. Her body lowered closer to the ground, ivory fur blending in quite nicely as she neared the source. Then she saw it.
Hopping along merrily in a patch of browned grass was a bunny, not without company. There were a few of them scattered nearby to it. But she didn't bother hoping to catch more than one anyways. All she needed was to be fast enough for one. She slunk forward, ears back and posed to dash forward. Glancing at the little creatures she picked one out. It was the fattest and most appetizing looking of them all, so a good choice she had to figure.
Next to it was a scrawny little thing. Maybe she could be lucky. Still highly doubtful. There weren't too many here, and they didn't look to be starving or anything. Another few steps were taken now, inching all the more close to the rabbits before her. Now. She was a few dozen yards from them, and one of the things lifted it's head, long ears twitching while it tried to catch the sounds of her moving closer. But she was already up and dashing, bodice hardly any further from the ground, she took long ground covering leaps, legs stretching out far. In a single snap of her jaws the plumper one was scooped up and finished. A scrambling began among the others to run for safety and she made an attempt to leap at one, but grabbed it's foot and ended up losing it anyways.
Snorting indignantly, she shook her head and picked up the one that was now hers. It might have been a quick little thing, but it had not come prepared. She smirked, licking her lips before turning back to where she had last seen Falcon. This had been fun to say the least. Caelums steps were quick as she bounded off to see if he had gotten his rabbit. What a day.

Falcon trotted back a small ways with his fresh rabbit in his teeth. The little brown heap was not plump, but not scrawny either. He thought he'd done moderately well. He saw Caelum approaching and sat to wait for her. He dropped the hare between his paws. She came through the trees holding up a very healthy and fat looking bunny. He arched his brows and nodded his head in admiration. She'd done much better than he. He was not one to feel jealous or inferior when faced with another wolf's success. He was of course, good natured and terminally optimistic when it came to hunting. He was always free with praise but he never gave it unless he meant it.
"Nice looking hip-hop," He grinned, and used his funny nick-name for rabbits.
He started eating his, tearing the hide and getting at the tender innards. He crunched the bones well, as he knew if you didn't and instead, swallowed them whole, they could sometimes pierce your guts. The prey's revenge, he figured. It tasted fine, and satiated his hunger. He finished it off and settled down on the leaves to nibble the remaining fat off of the furred skin. He held the hide between his paws and raked and nibbled at it with his incisor's. He glanced up and saw Caelum eating her catch as well.
Suddenly, from his low vantage point, he spotted something. He took a double take, and stared at whatever it was that was making the leaves twitch so silently. His ears pinpointed like radar dishes, and the hairs on his ruff stood stiff. His golden eyes were round and focused, like an owl's.
"Caelum, Get up very quietly and move away from where you are," He said, his voice so low that only she could hear. His heart thudded quickly and the adrenaline was beginning to be added to the mix inside his veins. He looked at Caelum for her attention, then motioned violently with his eyes toward the creature that lay in wait. There, in the grass beside his new friend, was a snake. A large brown snake, with scaled patterns on its back. It would have been very hard to spot on the brown forest floor. Only by chance had Falcon spotted it. Most likely it had been looking for mice, hunting just like they were. But snakes had a horrible tendency to bite first and not even bother to ask questions later. It was moving in Caelum's general direction, and if it came upon her and sensed her body heat, it might think "THREAT" and nothing else. Falcon had come in contact with snakes before, and he'd known wolves to be snake bitten by a poisonous serpent and die. The problem was that no wolf could seem to tell if one was venomous or not, and so they were all potentially dangerous. And so Falcon did not know was kind of weapon this snake was packing, and he did not want to find out. He whined anxiously, eager for Caelum to move away.

Her pace slowed just a little bit as she reached him, seeing the rabbit in his maw. That was good. The way she had seen him so into hunting when she left him, it had been doubtful he would return without something. One of her audits flicked back as she considered the funny name he used for her catch. hip-hop. It amused her, and when she let her own plump creature fall to the ground a smirk came to her own mouth.
They both settled down to eat their respective meals. Despite her hunger, she messed with it a bit. Chewing on it for a minute before pausing and nosing it over. She swallowed chunks of meat and crunched bone in delight. This had not been a bad time at all.
Her own food was nearly finished off when she noticed something was off. Falcon stiffened and her own head raised, looking at him somewhat quizzically. Then he spoke and her eyes widened. Whatever was happening, she trusted that it was nothing good. Dropping the remains of her bloodied catch, her mind whirred as she considered what to do. It only took a slight turning of her head before she thought she could see it in the corner of her eye.
Honestly, snakes had never been her friends. Although she had seen plenty in her time and witnessed a few deaths caused by the dangerous ones, she only had a vague impression of what ones she had to look out for. Holding still, she pondered which one of her ideas was the one to go with in this situation. One thing she could do was try and move slowly out of it's range, and there was little guarantee she could make it. Her guess was it most likely had gotten close enough to strike. So why not get a little risky?
She heard his whine, and if she had not been about to act like a potential idiot she would have thought harder about that. The snake she saw was brown in shade and if she was right that meant she had to move right then. Grabbing the still warm remains of her rabbit, she only just pulled her body off the ground, legs streaaching out far to carry her quickly. Her eyes stayed partially locked on the serpant and just as she saw in look at her she knew what she ought to do.
There way no way she would be able to move quick enough, even with her reflexes. In her last ditch effort to escape the fangs with it was just starting to bear at her as it readied itself to attack, she made her move. Loosening her grip on the rabbit, she turned, still backing away, and flung it at the rising snake who had been a second away from striking.
The body struck her attacker, but not before it sent venom sputing from it's fangs. Caelum considered herself luck as only a few drops managed to hit her on her back. Nasty creatures. Her ears pinned back and she growled low at it, stepping over by Falcon. After a moment she turned to him, ice blue orbs only barely giving away her nervousness. Maybe she was lucky, but it wasn't over till she got away from that thing.
Caelum took a step away, looking around her. Where to go now, anyways? She guessed she needed to eventually find a pack, but maybe her priority ought to be getting cleaned up after all that crap, "Well. That was interesting. I think we should go now." She mused, eyeing the snake as it did the same back.
OOC: Ran out of muse just now -_-

Falcon eyed the slinky creature, backing away as well. Caelum's rabbit tossing move had worked, but just barely. The snake was looking at them, with an expression that Falcon decided was of resent and anger.
"Well. That was interesting. I think we should go now." she said.
"I tend to agree," Falcon replied, loping quickly off several yards. "Never a good idea to push your luck with snakes."
He let his tongue hang out, mostly out of anxiety. The pressure was off now, and needed to vent it out. He trotted through the leaves, his big tan paws moving sideways and out with each pace. Now that they'd eaten, he wondered what Caelum intended to do.
It was at this moment that the thought of Caelum being a potential mate popped into his head. He could hardly be called a male if he did not notice his opportunties or surroundings when it came to females. She was female, she was alone, and she was mature. Those were the only requirments there were really. When he had left his winter pack, his comrades had left in pairs, two by two, male and female. Only he and several other males had gone on alone. It was not that Falcon did not want a mate, he did. But he could never seem to get his heart set on anyone. He noticed them. But he had never felt pulled toward any of them. And so he remained mateless, and searching.
The thought had come many times before, with other females he'd met. "Maybe she's the one," He would say to himself, but it never was. He shrugged. Caelum seemed much too busy anyway. She seemed to be the searching type, but it was not a male that she was searching for. Falcon sighed heavily and shook, his fur rolling down his back. Someday. Although it nagged at him, and the instint in him was strong and urged him to pass on his genes, he accepted the fact that perhaps he never would. But maybe. Maybe someday there would be an instant connection with another wolf. Maybe he would run across her in the near future. But, he told himself, You could just as soon die in the near future too.
"Are you headed in any certain direction?" He casually asked her, "Or are you just an aimless wanderer like me?"
