Migrated character from Runners of the Wind; Caspian was my second and most rounded character. The cocky, nuisence of a wolf transformed into a much more modest, noble alpha of Sarcina through-out a typical romance, in which he, despite the hardships, stayed loyal to his 'alpha', Penzy. In the end, Caspian has succeeded in taking his place as Penzy's mate, and the two now bear three pups.
Name: Caspian
Gender: Male
Age: 6
Eyes: Hazel-brown
Fur: Mostly silver
Appearance: A wolf of seasons, the common name for Caspian's coat would be that of a black timber wolf's, whose coat fades both with age and the seasons. Through genetics, however, Caspian recieved a gorgeous, silvery coat, accented with various shades of black and white. However, he cannot escape his breed knack for coat-changing in the winter and summer, and thus his patterns are never consistant.
As for posture, Caspian has managed to achieve and perfect a very dominant, noble way of carrying himself, despite his debilitating limp in his right leg; the outcome of two rather ghastly fights. He's learned, however, to hide the limp when needed, but he's noticably stiffened as to stifle the pain. Aside from the limp, Caspian, in the presence of any but his direct family, keeps his tail high and his head higher.
Personality: Caspian has changed drastically after joining Talonea in the first few years of his life. He has developed a spine, and a very sturdy, theoretically unbreakable one at that. Forever loyal to his mate, Caspian will do literally anything for her and their three pups. A very dominant wolf, he's got a rather nasty spitfire tongue and should any wolf who reminds him of his former self come along, Caspian would very quickly attempt to set them straight. Proud of his small but ever-lasting pack, he leads with the experience he's gained and maintains a zero-tolerance for stupidity within his members, meaning he teaches very thoroughly.
His loyalty, however, is also his Kryptonite. Caspian's entire state of mind can be easily manipulated and disrupted if carefully plotted, as the injury or threat to his mate and offspring sets him instantly off. As shown in previous warfare with other wolves, he will not tolerate anyone to disgrace his family, and will lash-out regardless of the stature or strength of his opponent. His head-strong defiance is what could very well lead him to failure.
Again, despite these seemingly brutal tactics, Caspian has never failed to let loose with his kin. He's not at all a hardened, cruel wolf, and the tender-side of him is seen during play with his young and time spent with his mate. His love is and has always been his weakness.
Strengths:
-Loyal
-Experienced
-Intelligent (to an extent)
-Strong hearing
-Expert sense of smell
Weaknesses:
-All to devoted
-Bull-headed (on certain circumstances)
-Limp/injured leg
-Vaguely weak eyesight
-Quick to judge/easily misleaded
History: Once a cocky, stupid and pathetic young wolf, Caspian's life, cliche as it may be, completely changed after meeting Penzy. Having been immediatley provided with the Beta rank due to the pack's desperation, Caspian couldn't ignore the perks of the responsibility. He expected to boss around lower wolves and such but alas, Talonea had none. However, after enduring the punishment of the wolf who replaced his rank and the former alpha, as well as witnessing Penzy's mate constantly treat her as though she were inferior, Caspian soon smartened up and gradually formed a spine.
Keelle, Penzy's mate, encountered a childhood friend, a white wolf dubbed "Shadow. He demanded that the wolf replace Caspian as beta and, not wanting to have to fight for his rank, Caspian allowed the change.
Not long later, another loner, a very attractive black female temporarily stayed in the pack lands. She was welcomed in hope that she'd stay, and she and Shadow developed a romance.
About a month after Caspian joined, two bear cubs had made their way into the territory. The inexperienced males attempted to chase the cubs out and, before Penzy could warn them of the danger, were confronted by a very hungry and very angry mother bear. The pack fought desperatley to drive the bear out and defend their territory, but the tank of a grizzly kept heading towards their fresh kill.
It wasn't until a rogue came along, having tracked the bear and instructed them on how to successfully remove it, meaning the sacrifice of their food, that the bear left. However, in the midst of the battle, the bear had stepped on and practically crushed Caspian's right front paw, causing the start of his limp.
Caspian started to defend Penzy after that whenever her mate, Keelle would pick on her, and thus prompted the Alpha and the Beta to drive him out of the territory. He had attempted to return, but the chasing turning to biting and the biting turned to beatings that grew more harsh each time he entered the land.
So he waited.
And near the end of that spring, Caspian grew the courage to enter the terra and take on the two bullies, only to find the lands abandoned. However, he managed to pick up a trace of Penzy's scent, and followed it to a nearby, unclaimed land. Inhabiting the area was a massive white brute and a much smaller yearling, who Caspian mistook as the offspring of the white brute.
The strangers attempted to drive Penzy and Caspian off, and at the 'threat' of his alpha, Caspian attacked the wolf, ignoring the fact that it was quite ltierally twice his size. Obviously, Caspian only managed to inflict a few wounds before he was hurled into a tree, falling on and both dislocating and cracking his right shoulder.
Through weeks of recovery and a relocated shoulder, Caspian had still not succombed to his devastating wounds, thanks to Penzy. However, as the fight came on the brink of winter, both of the wolves nearly perished that season.
Caspian and Penzy lived in harmony for a long while, coping with the needs of their overly large territory. They renamed the pack Sarcina, a welcome improvement. But after Caspian was caught confronting to stranger females Penzy, after her trust issues with Keelle, took it the wrong was and nearly drove Caspian away. However, her attempt at injuring herself was disrupted by the silvery male, confessions of affection were made, and things changed. Though not by much.
For a couple year it had been just he and Penzy, and desptie their romance, the subject of mating had never been brought up. Eventually however, Caspian, in the previous season, worked up the courage to discuss it with Penzy, and not long later, Penzy brought three additions to the pack; two females and a male.
A few weeks into the pups' lives, Penzy came across a lone wolf, Falcon, who had been shot at the newly established farm. Unable to leave it to suffer, the couple brought him back to the territory, careful to keep the pups away and assured that, due to his injuries and the debt he now owed, Falcon wouldn't harm them.
Looking only forward, Caspian has established more than he could've ever expected, and he knows there will be plenty more to come. As things are finally looking up for Sarcina, perhaps he and Penzy might have a break from trouble and finally manage to settle down. They'll just have to wait.
