Name: 429 aka Rebus
Gender: Male
Age: 8 1/2 yrs
Eyes: Orange rimmed in chocolatety brown
Fur: His fur is red brown, with lighter browns on his underbelly and legs and a dusting of small black guard hairs on his head and back.
Appearance: Rebus is an older male, but he isnt feeble or arthritic. He has a few scars here and there that life has given him. The fur on his elbows is long and he's also missing a rear toe. Around his neck is a dead and broken radio collar with the numbers 429 printed on it. The collar presses his fur apart so that hairs stick out from beneath it.
Personality: Rebus is quiet, a solemn wolf. He's been around and knows how to take care of himself. Gentle and wise, he gives good advice, especially to the younger generation. He's not nesessarily old, just seasoned. He does get frustrated at times, but his anger never lasts long. Rebus has a soft place in his heart for pups and females, but often is suspicious of other males. He's an honorable wolf, and despises criminals and killers. He sometimes calls himself 429.

History: Rebus was an alpha, on top of the world. His loyal mate, pups, and pack lived well, and loved their leader. One morning Rebus was making his rounds, patrolling his borders. Suddenly a well hidden trap snapped shut on his rear paw. He tried to pry himself loose, but the pain was too severe. Soon several humans appeared. Rebus snarled, but a sharp pinch in his rump made him become drowsy then paralyzed. He was prodded and felt several more pinches. When he came to, the humans were gone and there was a contraption around his neck. He was no longer trapped, but his toe was gone. He limped home. The rest of the pack were wary of him. He smelled of humans, and the collar was strange. They soon forgot those things though, and were back to rubbing him and licking their beloved alpha's chin. Not long after the trap episode, A patrol of two males came back to Rebus saying they were attacked by a strange wolf. They had fought with and killed it, but not before noticing something terrible was wrong with it. Rebus was concerned and went to inspect the body. It smelled sick, but Rebus knew not what it was. Several days passed, and the two patroling wolves began to get sick. The pack cared for them, but soon they became violent. The whole pack fought their sick members and Rebus was able to kill them. A horrible thought throbbed in Rebus' mind. The two males had gotten sick from fighting with the infected wolf. Would his whole pack now become sick from fighting them? A week later he had his answer. His whole family lay dead, Rebus the lone survivor. He mourned his pack and was baffled at why he had lived and they had died. He suddenly remembered his encounter with the humans. It had to have been something they had done to him. Rebus left his territory, not wanting to constantly relive the memories. He's since been drifting and fending by himself. His radio collar no longer emits a signal, as its batterys died and Rebus broke it from taking a nasty fall on some rocky terrain.
