The sound of roaring water came to the ears of the wolf, then gently he heard it retreat after a few moments. The wind was coming off the water making for some very spectacular waves, shades of blue and tinted orange with the slowly setting sun. A very massive pawprint embedded the sand as the black wolf strode towards the bay with ease. He wanted to linger in thesalty water to relax his tense muscles from the travel down the mountain.
Up in the mountain was his winter retreat, the male has spent the worse of the season up there by himself, following the herds of migrating elk as the climbed over the mountain the the warmer land on the other side. The land was deserted and very rough, snowstorming every night and finding a new den everyday, Ameer gazed across the water and thought about all the wolves that have been there before him. He could smell the faint sents lingering in the sand and the wolf pushed some of the sand away with his paw and lowered his head, closing his eyes.
He was getting old and still felt a lingering eating at his gut. He had not acomplished anything that he wanted to in life. Once upon a time he had everything. A pack, a family, life, love... but then he felt it because he lost, he gave up. The end. Ameer's ear twiched and he stretched out and sprawled across the sand, letting the warm water lap at his oversized paws curiously. The brute sniffed the air and pondered of getting up to eat up instead decided it could wait till later, or even tomorrow. He had pulled himself into a deep pit of pity and wanted to be still for awhile letting his thoughts wander and his imagination go free with the ideas of exploring unknown land, of killing the biggest buck.. and of his favorite.. finding love.

Sparrow was constantly on the move. He laughed at calling himself a nomad, but nevertheless followed it's description as a lifestyle. Every day was usually passed either following the stars, or wandering after mysterious or delicious scents. Tonight, however, he was following the scent of another male wolf- much older than himself. Nose close to the ground, the little caramel wolf was trotting towards where the scent was coming from. As he reached the edge of shore, Sparrow didn't need his nose to see the large black figure sprawled halfway into it. The stranger definetly caught his scent by now, but just to make sure, the pup called out in greeting: "Hello!" His tail wagged softly as he held his head slightly lower than he would have normally held it, to show respect. The little wolf didn't come any closer, having had nasty encounters with other loners who snarled at him and even attacked when Sparrow advanced without warning. "My name is L-- Sparrow. It's nice to meet you." His ears folded back at the tiny mistake, but he quickly regained himself. The stranger looked kind of down. Although the black wolf's body was screaming strength and potential threat, his facials were consumed with what appeared to be sadness masked by emptiness. "If I may... are you alright, sir?" Sparrow tilted his head to one side and gave a warm look. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

In his short moment of peace, a sent wafted towards the black beast as he slowly opened one bright yellow eye and new it was a young male. Instinctively, his hackles rose but the brute stayed down in the sand, knowing that this young wolf would not pose a threat to him, he was positive of it when he sensed his energy and heard a perk "Hello!" Ameer turned his body by simply just rolling over and lifted his head from his paws to examin the sandy colored wolf. He was small... but he was young also. Ameer sat amused, and listened to the wolves introduction, somewhat distant mentally to the encounter. He notice the wolf didn't approach any closer and he couldn't blame him. Ameer probably would not even want to encounter himself either. The gesture of flattening his ears make Ameers nose twitch and he just laid there motionless, staring.
"If I may... are you alright, sir?" This wolf called Sparrow asked. With a sharp chuckle the brute sighed and pulled himself up into a sitting position intently aware of the warm smile plastered on the light wolfs face. "Just peachy," He answered and yawned, his pink tounge curling up and his dangerously sharp fangs were exposed, slightly tinted yellow from the blood many, many animals. The black brute wondered why a wolf would care? Most went to the end of the earth to avoid contact with him. let alone seek him out and start conversation... Ameer paused remembering that he had not sented any wolvs when he entered the land and it caused him to wonder if the young wolf had in fact followed his trail, staying a distance behind him as to not be noticed by the older male.
"Hello Sparrow, the names Ameer.. nice to meet you too. May I ask how you found me?" He questioned and stared at the hiney colored wolf with slight erieness.. thinking of reasons why a wolf such as him would be followed. His thick black tail swished once and let it wrap around his tree truck black legs the led up to a heavily built frame. He knew he was a best in comparasion to most.. there have been very few wolves that could compare to him. Though usually he was quite passive in temperment. He did not seek out fights, thought would eagerly join on if challenged or threatened.. or defending something or someone he cared for.. Flashbacks brought him to his old pack as he ripped at the shoulders of the challenging pack. He had been so young... so less experienced compared to unruly alpha who was the only wolf that had ever won over him.. It was shortly after that that he took off, not being able to face the dissapointment of his pack, of having to follow the one and only wolf that had ever beaten him... He couldn't.
You could say that when Ameer is confronted in a fight now a days that blood lust overcomes his, in fact his greatest fear is losing and if killing is what it takes to keep from losing.. thats what he will do. though there have been olny two wolves he had ever had to go that far with, and in fact they deserved to die harshly.. he was nowhere near a monster compared to them. She shook her massive head and ruff of fur and then looked back to the wolf in front of his a distance and waited for an answer.

Sparrow gave a funny grin, "Just peachy" the stranger had said. The pup gave a tiny bark of a laugh at the odd answer. The obsidian wolf seemed to size him up as he casually adjusted into a more comfortable position. Sparrow dismissed the slight feeling of self-consciousness that bubbled up at such an act and listened to the wolf introduce himself; "Ameer" he tested mentally. It was a very strong name- no doubt meant for an equally strong wolf. Sparrow considered complimenting it, but the politeness and formality wore off quickly and he found himself sitting rather than standing and prepared to run. However instinct kept his hackles slightly tense should the situation of fleeing arise. Ameer inquired as to how the pup had come to find him and Sparrow gingerly laughed. "Well I was looking for adventure and then I caught your scent. I don't know, I suppose I was bored and set to following your trail." He wisely decided to leave out the fact that his last traveling partner had nearly killed him. Sparrow subconsciously rubbed at his bitten and sore leg. "So Mr. Ameer, do you have a pack?" came his innocent voice. The pup secretly hoped the wolf didn't- he was scared of large packs. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

His large errect ears turned towards the sound of the smaller wolf- Sparrow was his name. Ameer gazed upon his with his oddly bright yellow eyes and grunted as he heard the the young wolf reply that he had folled his sent because he was looking for "an adventure" The larger of the two males chuckled deep in his throat at the thought that his own life would provide some excitement... No, Ameer's life was one of hardship and pain, even he would not wish it upon another wolf. One had to be totally independent to survive by themselves in the lands he had occupied.
"No young wolf, I do not have a pack... Once upon a time I was an alpha, but that was years ago.." Ameer stated and dipped his head in shame, trying to hide the fact that his memories hurt him from Sparrow, the light colored wolf. He remininsed on those thoughts and at the moment missed companionship and family greatly, he could barely remembers his brothers face..
With a blink and a shake of his ruff, the loner lifted his head and moved one paw through the sand lazily. "So I would imagine a wolf liek yourself would belong to a pack, no?" she questioned and waited for a reply. Ameer could not smell many other wolves on that wolf's fur which made him curious as to what the sany wolfs intentions were and truthfully... how he survived on his own if he did.

"Actually no, I don't have a pack either." Sparrow said with a half-hearted smile.
The ocean began to dance the hightening colors of the sky on it's waves- giving a warm and welcoming look to it's waters. For a second, Sparrow was tempted to go in, but re-thought as his swimming was rather bad and the water was too wavy to move in comfort.
The little wolf sighed and scratched at an itch behind his ear, supressing the urge to growl in annoyance when he couldn't reach it. Instead, his eyes fell on to the large black wolf and he decided to continue conversing with him. "So you were an Alpha? How was that? You must be very strong and wise." He admired aloud.
Sparrow never dreamed of being an alpha. He imagined the pressure would be too much. To be counted on as a hero was something he didn't know of, and he never quite had someone to admire as such.
What must if feel like to lose such a high position? Sparrow decided to keep that question to himself.

Ameer lifted his head and admired the admiration int he small wolfs face. It has been nearly a life time ago since the brute had been seen upon with that sort of fondness. Listening, Ameer was suprised that the sandy wolf Sparrow did not have a pack and his smile slowly fell into a straight line of his face as he felt.. worry for the young wolf? Quicklu he snapped at himself mentally for feeling that way... obviously the wolf was fine since he had lived for this long already on his own... The beast of a wolf closed his sharp peircing yellow eyes and sighed taking in the fresh sent of the cooling weather and of the water in the harbour. The sun has turned a deep orange color and its light refracted off of the waves and tinted the water itself and sent a sense of calmness over the land.
"So you were an Alpha? How was that? You must be very strong and wise." Ameer couldn't supress a chuckle that rose tot he surface and he smiled genuinely to the wolf and tilted his head slightly as he spoke.
"well, I wouldn't go that far as to say I'm wise... if I was wise I never would have left my... pack." He responded and his last few words felt like a kick in the ribs to him. "You see, I was chosen by my packs leader to be his heir to the pack.. I was trained since puppyhood to follow the duites set before me... but when my alpha died so suddenly I was put in charge at a young age and my position was often threatened by others. It was one day that the rival pack ambushed me and a couple of scouts on a hunting route and I .... I lost." The pain was now clearly present of the males face as he seemed to sink down in the sand and he trembled remembering the pain and the blood that was spilt. how he was told that if he ever showed his face again he would be killed, ripped apart in front of his own pack. Ameer slumped and then opened his mouth once more. "I had to leave, I could not let the ones I cared for be put in a dangerous position... and that had been the ONLY fight I have lost to this day." His eyes suddenly narrowed and he growled threateningly, but mostly directed to himself.
how STUPID to open up like that, he had let this total stranger see his weakness! the brute smacked the sand with his paw and it left a massive imprint of his anger for his yellow eyes to stare at before he slowly lifted his head to take in the expression of little Sparrow wolf. The dark wolf didn't mention that his own brother was now running the pack as far as he knew.. that it deeply hurt the brute to know that his own past alpha would be ashamed of him for giving up, for throwing away all he had worked for... The yellow eyes seemed to show the pain and sorrow that the brute was feeling and Ameer hoped that the young wolf would understand his rash anger and Ameer slumped onto his belly with a loud thud and rested his obsinian head on his crossed paws.

Sparrow leaned forward with erect ears as he listened attentively to the older wolf speak. Throughout the story, he felt his features drop slowly. Sparrow's tanned body began to fold- starting with his ears to his eyes and tail. "Wow... he thought with sympathy. As he watched Ameer come to a conclusion, Sparrow took note of the emphazism on "ONLY." When the black male slashed at the sand, Sparrow decided it was best not to give pity, as it seemed the male wanted no part of that. The pup observed, taking more information in from the male; understand the feeling of lonliness and self-disgrace. Sparrow was a disappointment to his father. He was the runt of the litter and a known as a creature not meant for his body. The little wolf shifted in the sand and looked up into Ameer's golden glare. "It's okay to lose, you know." he said quietly- trying to be the voice of calmness and light. "You weren't ready, and you shouldn't take your only loss so badly." Suddenly his calm smile brightened, "Think of it as experience! You can only learn from your mistakes and faults. It's always good to be understanding of the past, and accepting it. In your case, accept that you lost and that you can't change that by winning other fights." Sparrow smiled and lifted his head, "Your pack probably regrets losing such a cool guy like you." His hazel eyes glowed with admiration as he lifted a paw and exclaimed incredulously, "I mean come on, a wolf who's lost only ONE fight! JESUS, MAN, that's freaking amazing!" He gave a warm laugh and looked at the older male in hopes of having pryed a smile from him. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

A few quiet and deep breaths of Ameer was the only sound until the large male heard a quiet and meek voice speak to him. "Its ok to lose you know"... This statement was enough for the charcoal loner to direct his eyes upon the little Sparrow wolf. He pondered and what this wolf was getting at, maybe he himself had at one time experienced loss or pain like he had... Ameer's ears folded back at the thought of his own selfishness as the younger wolf spoke up again. "You weren't ready, and you shouldn't take your only loss so badly."
Ameer shifted so that he was laying on the flat of his belly looking up at the light brown wolf, who seemed too wise for his years. "Think of it as experience! You can only learn from your mistakes and faults. It's always good to be understanding of the past, and accepting it. In your case, accept that you lost and that you can't change that by winning other fights.....Your pack probably regrets losing such a cool guy like you." He saw the faint smile widen and Ameer snorted and blinked once..... twice. He could not push away the feeling that for some odd reason this stranger was right, that he had a point. What happened in the past happened and he should not dwell on that factor anymore. His tail wagged slightly as he sat back up and shook the sand from his thick and hardy coat with a newly lit light in his strangely yellow eyes.
In fact, Ameer even gave a hearty laugh at the last statement of Sparrow, his enthusiam was almost too much and Ameer smiled softly at the wolf. In the short time they were talking he had felt a genuine tug of fondness pull at his old and crippled heart for the young wolf. He reminded Ameer of his own younger brother, the one that now runs his pack - old pack.... It was very strange indeed.
He sented a rabbit in the near foliage and his muscles twitched with anticipation and his mouth opened as a pink tounge poked out of gap between his black rimmed lips. A small hunger chewwed at his stomach and Ameer wondered if this odd friendly wolf was hungry too.
"Wait here, I will be right back" He stated somewhat distracted as he trotted into the trees and bushes and then crouched into a stalking position decided exactly where the rabbit was located by using his nose and ears. Within seconds he had his target within strike range and he lept, taking the brown hares life quickly and painlessly, then returned to his spot once more. Dropping the fresh rabbit Ameer nosed it towards the young wolf and looked at Sparrow, then the rabbit, then Sparrow again silently offering the rabbit to him. It was the least you could do for the.. dare he say... friend? ....maybe? Either way it was a fresh rabbit and who would refuse the offer?
After a while Ameer spoke up again, "You oddly remind me of my brother... He now runs a very sucsessful pack... one of the best alphas out there..." Ameer smiled and looked at the wolves face again and pushed away intriguing thoughts, both of their personalites were so alike... Ameer could remember plently of times that his younger brother had offered words of encouragment to his older and stronger brother when he needed it. Meeting Sparrow had sent Ameer back in time to puphood again.

Sparrow didn't understand when he saw Ameer rise and excuse himself. He smelled the air, but didn't come across any scents- maybe he was just relieving himself? Or maybe he was just trying to leave politely. Despite the thought, Sparrow sat down and waited. He was well rewarded for his decision when Ameer came trotting back. The enourmas ebony wolf dropped a fresh rabbit from inside his jaws and Sparrow's stomach growled along with his throat. He felt the need to dig in, having his ribs exposed and his stomach empty for so long. Sparrow looked up to see Ameer's golden and expectant gaze. He grinned unshamefully and started to tear bits of meat off the brown hare. His own caramel fur began to bristle at the taste of warm blood and he growled contently, as if to purr. Soon enough, the hare became a carcass, with barely even a piece of loose skin left. Sparrow was chewing on a small bone, trying not to drool when suddenly Ameer's deep voice made him jump. "You oddly remind me of my brother... He now runs a very successful pack... one of the best alphas out there..." he said. Sparrow looked up and licked the blood off his maw. "I do?" his own higher voice inquired. "How so?" The pup tilted his head with interest. ((Bleh, boring post. Apologies D: )) [/blockquote][/blockquote]

He gave a lop-sided wolfy grin as he saw the happiness that Sparrow got out of the simple hare. Ameer took pleasure from his good and kindly task towards the male wolf and he studied him closely as he gnawed at its bones. He noticed the brown wolfs ribs protruded outwards pressing on his flesh that you could just notice when you looked at the right angle under his heavy wolf coat. When asked the questions Ameer didn't falter to reply, this Sparrow wolf was growing on him, and Ameer lazily stretched before continuing on with his answers. "Well to start off with you are both on the smaller, more agile side... not a monsterous beast such as me..." He stated and wasn't sure how he felt about calling himself that, Yes, in certain ways the black was was self consious and would rather blend in than stand out... maybe he has been a loner for too long now, all his sense was slowly draining out of his ears.. Blinking he continuted on. "And your personalities sort of mesh. I bet you two would probably get along well if you ever meet, because you seem more talk than fight.... a very intelligent wolf you are." Ameer finished and thought about his compliments towards Sparrow, there was just something... He couldn't shake the feeling of his brother and un consiously was probably clinging to little Sparrow so much because of loneliness and heartbreak. Ameer felt this unrestistable urge to protect the smaller wolf as if he was his pack... a pack of two. Insanity. He retorted to himself and sneezed before licking his muzzle, Sparrow would probably label him a loon if he was to discover what he was truely thinking, in fact Ameer himself didn't know what he was truely thinking either.... it was all a mess, his life will probably always be a mess... (omg so sorry its so lame and poohey, I have no muse at all bleh I hope its enough to work with!)

"Well to start off with you are both on the smaller, more agile side... not a monsterous beast such as me..." Sparrow laughed; it was true, Ameer was rather monsterously tall. "And your personalities sort of mesh. I bet you two would probably get along well if you ever meet, because you seem more talk than fight.... a very intelligent wolf you are." The smaller of the two grinned at the compliment.
"Well I know a difference between your brother and I," the pup said, leaning closer. "... I would have kept you in my pack." Sparrow smiled warmly and wagged his tail. "You're a cool guy, Ameer," he laid down and dragged his tail back and forth through the warm sand.
Since the land Sparrow explored seemed to be abundant in free-roaming wolves, he was always likely to find another wolf; some of them were mean, and others were kind and temporarily accepting. Ameer reminded him of a couple of his travel-partners; the kind ones.
"So where are you going to go after today?" he questioned the brute. Caramel ears flicked forward for a reply and his brain prepared a way of asking if he could temporarily travel with him.
